World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players increase the gear rating of an item by up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a group. This bonus could be more than the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also change the stats of the base. While this is generally beneficial however, it could have negative consequences as well. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to increase their stats. This can boost the defense base of a helm or chest while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain when upgrading, along with the values of these stats. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button, which is accompanied by arrows that circle in the item menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to poison, curses fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to traverse difficult areas. The more defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four fountains in all, and each requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you're looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in cold environments with a lot of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you can survive a raid with your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have a few upgrades of the helmets and chest armor that let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed, provide the user with the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five kinds of potions with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. item upgrading can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in an Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion used and the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it won't degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
There were a few changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for instance are now available with a time of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. item upgrading can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. The same is true for using a potion in the cauldron that is filled. This will draw out the potion and refill the bottle.
There are also simmering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion can be enhanced by adding redstone. The table of potions is arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It could also refer to a small ornament or object that serves a function but is not important as a thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items which can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the older one, and have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
When the old Trinkets are no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance, a ring or cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and helm.
Once they have become useless, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1percent bonus. A re-upgrade, however, can cause damage to the trinket unless it can be salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
